Car Buyers: Negotiate Down From That New Car Dealer Invoice Price |

One of the few bright spots in America's rapidly sagging economy is that the demand for big-ticket items like cars is way down. I mean, come on, who can afford to buy a new car right now besides Jay Leno? With sales slumping, and a bleak year forecast for car sales, car dealers are hungry, which makes it a buyer's market, if you've got the cash or at least good credit. And that means that you don't necessarily have to pay the new car dealer invoice price. That's right, you're in a better position to bargain down that new car dealer invoice price than at any time in the last five years. So, one of the first things to do is to tell your auto dealer to hack off the dealer's fees that can drive up the new car dealer invoice price as much as $1,000 on a new car. These fees are garbage, and they're almost pure profit for the dealer, and a rip-off to the consumer, many car buyers say. Even some car dealers agree that it's a rip-off that's just tacked on to a new car dealer invoice price. Toyota dealer Earl Stewart of North Palm Beach, Florida is working to get the fees banned. I say bravo to him, and wish him well in his quest to lower the new car dealer invoice price. |
